Braindance - Rephlex Records

Twenty years ago two djs by the name of Grant Wilson Claridge and Richard D James[ Aphex Twin] helped to lay the foundations of todays nightclubbing scene through a handful of now legendary nights.  This duo have gone on to form the cult record label Rephlex, that has released around 200 albums by more than 50 intenational artists in their 16 years of operations; described in 2001 by NME as "the coolest record label on Earth" and by Guardian Guide  as "the best electronic music label in the country".

Having established themselves as a home for unusual, leftfield and sincere music, Rephlex has chosen  it's popular 'Rephresh' club nights into "Braindance" to be held here at the sandsifter every third Saturday of the month...

Sir Vinyl of t'Fattest is a four strong DJ team of retro/future blockrockers, connecting together like old school transformers to draw from the latest hi-tek soul and drop crowd uniting BASS music, alongside special sonics from the archives. It's dance music in the truest sense of the word: music to dance to: deep, diverse and deadly. It is a journey that can last (and has lasted) for many hours, straying freely through the mighty realms of Soul, Broken beat, Afrobeat, Dubstep, Bashment, Hip Hop, Detroitisms, Swing, Calypso and many other areas too fantastic to be confined to a word or yet to have the appropriate words invented to confine them. Playing individually at various nights and sessions over the last 8 years or so, supporting the likes of Rahzel, Fat Freddy's Drop, Bugz in the Attic, TY, Giles Peterson, Paul Murphy, Troubleman, The Nextmen and Quantic, to name just a few, the Sir Vinyl selection team solidified through free parties they held in the West Penwith area. Havana Club is a brand of rum, made in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba. The brand was established by José Arechabala in 1878. After the Cuban Revolution of 1959, the distillery and company was expropriated by the Cuban government; subsequently, the Arechabala family escaped to Spain, then emigrated to the United States. Since 1993 it has been produced by Havana Club International, a 50:50 joint venture between Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.
